What I'm Reading and Why I'm Reading It

The Willoughbys
, by Lois Lowry

Why I'm reading it: Because Lois Lowry knows how to tell a story. She is a two-time Newbery Medal winner and one of the most admired voices in children's literature. Her voice hits you on the first page and says, "Keep reading me!"

The Gollywhopper Games, by Jody Feldman

Why I'm reading it: Because I enjoy reading new voices. Being a writer, I will always support new authors by picking up their books. So far, so good. The writing here flows at break-neck pace and the concept, though seen before, is executed with a few new spins.

Keeping Score, by Linda Sue Park

Why I'm reading it: Because one of my favorite books is A Single Shard, by the same author. Linda Sue Park has a tendency to slowly draw a reader in with eloquent sentences. Her tales really do unfold organically. Nothing is forced. Everything is natural.
