We're reading The Outsiders in class. It's antiquated by today's standards, but for some reason Ponyboy's story stands up to time. It's the whole outsider, not feeling like you belong, thing. Kids latch onto that stuff. Especially eleven and twelve year-olds who are new to middle school. Today, a student gave me a gift, as pictured to the left. Uh, best gift ever.
That's pretty spiffy. Now you just need pomade right? Ah yes, nothing like the thuggish 50s/60s. =)
ReplyDeleteI must be from another century. What is it?
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the Outsiders.
ReplyDeleteAnd my husband recently purchased that comb switchblade when we were in Wyoming this summer. The rest of the summer he'd pull it out and comb his hair like a goof ball.
Sweet kid to give it to you!
I see Kelly already caught this. I've noted on her blog that I've never read OUTSIDERS. I keep putting it on hold at my library and then forgetting to pick it up when it comes in, and then, boom, they give it to someone else. (They hate when people don't pick up books--can't blame them). But I've GOT to read this book!!! Love the present.
