So school is out for the summer. We ended the year with A Midsummer Night's Dream, culminating in a field trip to the nearby Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum. The year was fun-filled, exciting, and challenging. And now I get to spend more time with my own family, and read and write when I'm not completely drained and my brain feels like a dried sponge.
Today was preschool graduation. We witnessed a shouting match over seats. Yes, a SHOUTING MATCH at PRESCHOOL GRADUATION! Seriously, people. The sheriffs showed up after the ceremony. As always, the shouter was in the wrong. The shenanigans didn't retract from the morning. Blondie and all the kids sang their hearts out while also signing (sign language) to a couple of songs. On the way home, Blondie cried because she doesn't want to leave her preschool.
*Note to parents: Value great teachers, even though they are priceless.
*Note to teachers: You DO make a difference.
*Note to Blondie: You're opening a new chapter. You'll be okay.
The Color of Bones came out on May 8. All I have to report is that the book is selling, people from ages 8 - 82 are reading it, and the responses from kids have been overwhelmingly positive, which makes me feel like writing a thousand more books. As of now, I have no plans for a series, but I do have other plans. I'll talk about those soon.
